California Yoga Center has been offering yoga for all ages and abilities since 1980. Elise Miller, certified Senior Iyengar teacher, along with other certified Iyengar instructors, graduates of Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco and teachers who have studied extensively with certified Iyengar teachers, comprise our dedicated and knowledgeable staff.

CYC's approach emphasizes a balance between strength and flexibility while building endurance. It develops self-awareness through precision in movement and attention to subtle aspects of posture and breath. CYC teachers modify postures to encourage students to develop a deeper awareness and steadiness in the classic postures.

CYC class packages now have a one-year expiration date. You can still share the package with spouses, friends and family. Ask about sharing when you buy. Using our new online scheduling system, students can purchase class packages for Mountain View and register for all workshops.

The new Mountain View center has a larger, fully-equipped yoga studio, including a full rope wall. Ropes help students to deepen their yoga poses, and ropes can have therapeutic value for students with back care and other challenges.

Intro to Yoga Series
This 8-week Introduction to Yoga Series will be held on Thursdays in Palo Alto from 5:45-7:15 pm. Sign up for 8-week series or drop-in.

April 11-13
Yoga for Scoliosis - Part I
The workshop is appropriate for beginning and intermediate students, and for teachers wanting to assist their students who have scoliosis. This 10 hour Part I workshop is an opportunity for teachers to begin the 20-hour course requirement + practicum to become a Yoga for Scoliosis Training.

Therapy Balls with Suzanne Dong
This unique course offers an opportunity to use Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls. The 2 1/2" diameter balls are made of a special rubber designed to work through multiple layers of muscles, rub out adhesions and tension, and provide deep tissue massage.

Science Meets Practice with Roger Cole
In this four-class series, Roger draws from over three decades of experience integrating Iyengar principles with anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and psychology. He will teach you how to use the right technique at the right time to perfect alignment, free movements, maintain stamina, ocus, relax and immerse yourself in the joy of the practice of yoga.

Yoga for Jaw Tension
Jaw Tension and TMJ or TMD (Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction) is a very common and often painful condition. Come and learn why this is so and how to bring relief. Cator will review causes and repercussions of jaw tension, self-massage techniques for relieving facial tension, guided meditations and yoga asana sequence based in Iyengar yoga to cultivate awareness of jaw tension and how to relieve it.

Yoga for the Subtle Body
Tune into the subtle energies of the body to go deeper in your practice, facilitate healing of injuries and structural imbalances. In her work as a cranialsacral therapist, Cator brings her unique understanding of the body's subtle pulse, the cranial wave, to a deeper relationship of body and mind. Session includes lecture/discussion, partnered bodywork, pranayama and asana.
