Supporting Breath, Vitality & Respiratory Health Through Yoga

As we approach the holidays and colder weather, it’s important to take time to support your body and nervous system.  During this seasonal transition, you may notice less resilience to the flu, seasonal colds and allergies. The respiratory system is a vital part of our health and well-being and can taken for granted until it’s not working well. We may not even realize the breath is suffering, we just feel tired, scattered or uninspired. Stress and illness can make these symptoms worse.

In this workshop, you'll explore a sequence designed to improve energy, calm the nervous system and develop a connection to your breathing. We will practice a variety of poses both supported and dynamic to open the chest, diaphragm, rib cage, and upper back. You will learn how to develop a smoother breath and greater lung capacity.

What You'll Learn

  • How posture and chest mobility influence breathing

  • Ways to improve the movement of the diaphragm and rib cage

  • Supported asanas that encourage smooth breathing

  • How yoga can support the respiratory and nervous systems

  • A sequence you can continue practicing at home

This Workshop Is For

  • Students who would like to improve the quality or depth of their breath

  • Anyone experiencing chest tightness, shallow breathing, or reduced respiratory capacity

  • Yoga practitioners interested in learning to increase lung capacity

  • Students looking for seasonal support for flu, cold or allergies
