In the Iyengar Yoga methodology, each asana is part of a progressive journey where foundational actions evolve into deeper awareness, refinement, and integration. This weekend course with Marla invites students to explore how breath, perception, and intelligent action work together to transform practice from simply “doing poses” into experiencing yoga more fully from within.
Weekend Schedule:
Saturday: 9:00–11:00 am
Session 1: Establishing the Foundation (Level 1)
Beginning-level postures and essential actions that form the basis of all asana. Students will explore how clear physical actions create stability in both body and mind.
Saturday: 1:00–4:00 pm
Session 2: Connecting Actions (Level 2)
Students will begin linking beginning actions into more dynamic and layered postures, recognizing how basic principles evolve into more challenging variations.
Sunday: 12:00–3:00 pm
Session 3: Depth, Perception & Advanced Practice (Level 3–4)
The final session introduces more advanced postures with an emphasis on refinement, subtle awareness, breath, and internal perception while maintaining those beginning actions throughout.
Cost $250 (all 3 sessions)
In this weekend course, Marla will progressively guide students through a variety of asana, moving from fundamental principles toward deeper refinement in the Iyengar Yoga methodology.
Beginning with basic actions and alignment, the practice will gradually evolve to include greater sensitivity to breath, perception, and awareness within the poses.
Rather than approaching asanas as isolated shapes, the weekend will emphasize the continuity of action, revealing how core principles repeat, evolve, and deepen across all levels of practice.
This course is for:
Students with a basic understanding of yoga wanting to deepen their practice
Practitioners interested in progressing safely into more advanced poses
Students wanting to connect physical practice with breath and awareness
Those who appreciate a thoughtful, progressive approach to learning
Participants will experience:
A progressive and intelligently sequenced practice
Clear instruction that develops across sessions
Repetition of key actions in new contexts
Greater awareness of breath, perception, and internal action
A supportive environment for exploration and growth
This workshop offers a progressive approach towards advancing your practice. From the fundamental actions towards refinement, students will build strength, understanding, and sensitivity in asana while cultivating greater clarity and integration in asana.
