Course Description
This Spring Sadhana is a three-part immersion exploring the foundational teachings of the Yamas and Niyamas through both discussion and practice.
Each session will thoughtfully balance philosophy and asana. We will examine the five Yamas: non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, continence, and non-possessiveness and the five Niyamas: cleanliness, contentment, self-discipline, self-study, and surrender through the lens of modern life.
Through guided reflection and structured practice, we will explore how these principles can positively inform and refine our asana practice as well as create greater clarity and intention on and off the mat.
Spring Sadhana is for
Students who want to deepen their understanding of yoga philosophy
Practitioners seeking to integrate study with embodied experience
Those interested in cultivating greater awareness in daily life
Students wanting a more intentional and reflective approach to practice
All levels are welcome. Curiosity and openness are encouraged.
Participants will:
Develop a clearer understanding of the Yamas and Niyamas
Learn how these ethical foundations apply to contemporary life
Explore how philosophy can guide and refine asana practice
Cultivate mindfulness, awareness, and compassionate action
Build greater steadiness and self-reflection in both practice and daily living
By linking study with asana, students begin to experience philosophy not as abstraction, but as lived practice.
