Yoga for Healthy Hips

  • In Person & Online at California Yoga Center 1776 Miramonte Avenue Mountain View, CA, 94040 United States (map)

The hip joint is one of the body’s most powerful and versatile joints, providing stability while allowing for a wide range of motion and plays a key role in balance and posture. This workshop will focus on understanding the different muscles and joints that make up the hip, how to determine if more flexibility or strength (or both) is needed and how this relates to other parts of your body.

Saturday July 11th, 1.30 - 3.30 PM PDT

We will start with a brief overview of the anatomy of the hip. Using this information, we will practice actions vital to stability and mobility. Then learn how this translates to asana practice.

You will learn & explore:

  • Different muscles and joints that make up the hip

  • The actions and movements of those muscles and joints

  • How low-back and knee pain may be due to tight hips

  • Ways to lengthen and soften tight muscles at home

If you have hip, knee or lower back pain, this workshop will be a great starting point. Using specific actions and asana, we will open and strengthen different muscle groups to ease stiffness.

This workshop is open to all students with at least six months of yoga practice who want to improve hip mobility, and for teachers seeking deeper insight into hip movement.

Saturday, July 11th from 1:00-3:30 pm PDT in Person & online

Sessions will be recorded and available to all registrants after the class for 2 weeks.
